Backflow prevention testing
Backflow Prevention testing is an annual requirement for most commercial buildings in NZ and will require a backflow prevention device, depending on the hazard rating.

What is backflow?
Backflow is one of the biggest risks to our water supply. It is a potential source of contamination that can seriously affect the quality and safety of our drinking water.
Backflow is when water flows back into the public water supply network. This is caused when water pressure drops in the water distribution system causing water to flow in the opposite direction, from residential or commercial premises, back into the public water supply network. Contaminants could be back-siphoned or injected by back-pressure into the public water supply; or a combination of both, where cross connections exist.
To stop a cross connection a suitable backflow prevention device needs to be installed. Cross contamination is extremely hazardous to the main supply of water, so this is extremely important to be done correctly by an Independently Qualified Person (IQP) Backflow tester and installer and have the device tested annually.

Based on the North Shore, Somerset Plumbing was founded by Richard Hurley, who first started the trade of plumbing by serving the wider London area, gaining the qualification of City of Guilds London Plumbing and Heating engineer.
Moving to New Zealand, Richard started Somerset Plumbing on the values of providing excellent workmanship at an honest rate.
We are a family company with strong links to our community. This has enabled us to give back through involvement in community projects, volunteer work and sponsorship of local clubs and charities.
